Join us for a day of discussions and demonstrations celebrating Nathan Lombard and his contemporaries. The forum will feature historic cabinetmaking practices, the recreation of newly-discovered Lombard furniture finishes, and new scholarship about cabinetmakers of the Early Republic. Woodworking demonstrations will highlight how sand-shading, inlay work, and carving were carried out in the period. Old Sturbridge Village’s sawmill will be in operation, showing guests how an up-and-down saw prepared wood, an important resource for local cabinetmakers. Take the opportunity to tour our exhibit Delightfully Designed: The Furniture and Life of Nathan Lombard opening on October 19th. Pre-registration is required and can be done online at osv.org.
