Furniture Made in Massachusetts: 1620 to the Present

Jonathan Fairbanks keynoted the Sewell C. Biggs Winterthur Furniture Forum of March 6-8, 2013 that launched a series of lectures about furniture made in Massachusetts, 1620 to the present. In September, at Fuller Craft Museum, Jonathan’s lecture will survey discoveries made over more than 40 years of scholarship in the field, paying tribute to colleagues who have significantly advanced knowledge and helped thereby to develop a better understanding of furniture making in Massachusetts from the time of first settlement in the Mass Bay Colonies to the present era of contemporary furniture making. This lecture anticipates additional scholars to speak on contemporary studio furniture artists whose work will be featured at Fuller Craft Museum in an exhibition on that topic in October.
