Gallery Talk – The Call of Classicism: Boston Furniture from the Early 19th Century

The early 19th century was a time of prosperity for the City of Boston and produced some extraordinary furniture. This talk will examine Boston’s answer to the call of classicism by looking at furniture made by craftsmen such as Thomas Seymour, Isaac Vose, and Archibald and Emmons. Irfan Ali is a collector of American furniture and decorative arts. His interest lies in American furniture from 1800 to 1835.
