Tour of Colonial Society’s Headquarters

The public is invited to tour the 1806 Charles Bulfinch-designed house that serves as headquarters of the Colonial Society of Massachusetts. This house is notable for its architecture and for the furniture within, primarily Boston-made and from the Empire period, but also including pieces by John Townsend of Newport, RI and Herter Brothers of New York. The Society's Curator, Toby Hall, will offer brief remarks about the house, and furniture consultant Robert Mussey will speak about the recent discovery of a signed Empire sofa that will be on view.
Presented by Toby Hall, curator; Robert Mussey, furniture consultant
